New to photography? Want to learn more about your camera?
I recently was reading on one of the blogs I follow: mcpactions.com/blog about a new e-book called Photo Nuts and Bolts: Know Your Camera and Take Better Photos. This looks like a great book for beginners wanting to learn more about their camera and stepping out of the green box. It is reasonably priced and they have a special going on right now too. I thought I would pass along the information in case any of you might be interested. Good luck and happy shooting!

A little behind......I know......
Hi everyone! I know I am a bit behind on posting....I know excuses, excuses...lol....I have been pretty busy lately. I am giving my website a new look for the new year and that takes a little time. I hope to be back up and running very soon. In the mean time you can find my latest happenings here on the blog. Usually people blog at the beginning of the year reflecting on the past year in addition to goals and exciting things for the upcoming year. I have to also say that I have been truly blessed. This past year has come with some amazing progress in my photography. I picked up my first DSLR the beginning of October 2008 and have come so far since that time. I have had the opportunity to photograph some amazing people and places with my new cameras and equipment. I have also learned a lot along the way and believe me I am STILL learning. Photography is a never ending learning process to which I totally love. I only hope that I can help and inspire others. I am also so thankful for all these people who have helped, inspired and believed in me along the way. This past year has also come with some trial and heartache...we lost my dear mother in law after a long battle with a very aggressive cancer and now watching my father in law suffer with the loss of his soul mate is just as heartbreaking. Grieving is a hard thing....I know we all have to deal with it at some point, it is never easy. My mom has moved back to Florida and is now closer to us which is another blessing. Things in her life have also been a struggle and now she is making a new fresh start in a new location and home. We are so happy for her! I am now, as of the beginning of this year homeschooling our 3 children. Whew, that is another hard task. We had to make some changes, but it will be ok! I am slowing getting the hang of this homeschooling thing and I know we will have more challenging days than others, but I have faith that God will bless me with what I need to do to be there for our children and provide for them what they need. Now on to some new and exciting things for 2010! I have a new logo as I am working to establish my brand...I am so happy with it so far. I am working to transition everything and get it in place. I am giving the website a fresh new look and that is fun too. I recently had some new updated photos taken of me by the fabulous Jennifer Adams, I have some fun workshops I have in the plan to attend to help educate my self more, and I have some exciting things planned for my business this year. I am motivated and ready to take on 2010, so here I come! I hope you all are excited for this new year and have some great and attainable goals set for this year. I know I do, both personally, spiritually and in my business life. I wish you all the happiest new year and hope that you will continue to follow me here on the blog, facebook and twitter and I progress on!
Much love,

NEW YEAR...and a NEW LOOK!
2010 is FAST approaching! I am so thankful for the wonderful blessings that I have been able to receive this past year as I have moved forward in my photography. I am also so thankful to my family, friends and fellow photographers who have helped and continue to inspire me along the way. I am again looking forward to another year that will allow me to learn and grow in the exciting field of photography. I have some exciting projects and opportunities that are ahead and with a new year also comes a new look! I have a new logo design AND I am changing the look of my website. If you have not noticed already, my website is currently closed for updates so the link from my intro page has been disabled. Don't worry it won't be long....it will be up and running again soon! I hope your New Year will be wonderful and memorable as I am planning for mine to be. Thank you to all those that follow the me on the blog, Facebook and Twitter. I enjoy meeting new people and what a great way to make connections. Today I am excited to be on my riding on the W.W Gay Mechanical Contractor's float at the Gator Bowl Parade in Jacksonville with my girls and other friends from my husband's office, and tonight ringing in the new year with my family. I hope that whatever your plans are that you have fun but most of all be safe! :)
Happy New Year and God Bless!

Wedding- Dave and Reesa
A few months ago a friend of mine was very sweet to recommend me to Reesa for her upcoming wedding. I met with Reesa and we made plans for her special day. Dave was living out of state and I was not able to meet him until the special day. After the wedding Reesa had plans to move up north with Dave and start their fabulous life together. It was a beautiful day for a wedding at Camp Blanding in Starke, FL right on Kingsley Lake, and a perfect day for Dave and Reesa to exchange their vowes and begin their wonderful journey. Here are a few highlights from the wedding day. A special thank you to Dana of Dana Goodson Photography in St. Augustine for second shooting with me. She did a fabulous job with helping me capture some great details and being in all those places that I couldn't be at once. It was a pleasure to work with you again Dana. :) Another special thank you to Sharon Townsend for all her help assisting! :)

Happy Father's Day and my anniversary!
Well this has been quite a special weekend in the Townsend home....on Friday June 19th, my husband and I celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary, and 16 1/2 years together total so far! I have a GREAT husband and I truly love him with all my heart. He is my soul mate and my eternal companion. I am so thankful that God put him in my path...together we have created a wonderful family with 3 super great kids! Thank you Waylon for all these wonderful and memorable years, I love you forever... :) Now to take you back in time a little...lol...here is a picture from our wedding day..now don't laugh I had to snap the picture with a camera because the picture is attached inside the album page...lol...wow it is funny how different you look after 15 years has passed.....
OK now on to today!...Today is Father's Day!!! Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there!!! So...Happy Father's Day to my wonderful hubby Waylon, it is quite a special weekend for you!!! Waylon is the best Dad, he loves our children so much and does a great job working so hard to take care of us. We love him and appreciate all the time he works to make sure we have our needs met and that we are able to enjoy the extras in life too...so here are a few photos of Waylon with our 3 children. These were taken last summer by Jennifer Adams, another great photographer in my area. I had fun pulling these out and scanning them in to post. I just love how she captured the relationship between Waylon and the kids so I chose to use these pics today. :) Enjoy!
Here is Waylon with Bo...He was 11 at the time...now he is 12.. :)

Here is Waylon with Taylor who was 9 at the time..now 10...
and...Waylon with our baby Carrie who was 7, now 8 years old...

Now I can not forget some other special men in my life! I would like to introduce my Dad, Tim Eagan, he lives up in Michigan and though we do not get to see each other very much we do the best we can and keep in good contact....and he is a great Dad! I love him dearly and I am so thankful for him in my life!!! I love you Dad, Happy Father's Day! :) See you in a couple weeks and excited to give you a great big hug!!!!
And here is another special man that I can not forget either...(ok another picture of a picture from the wedding album..lol) This is Tom Oxford, he has been a part of my life for many years now...and though many years have passed and he is no longer married to my mom I STILL consider him my step dad. He worked very hard to teach, guide and support me for many of my youth and young adult years. He lives out in California now and I don't get to see him very much any more we do keep in touch via email and I also keep in touch with his mom who has been and still is a wonderful grandmother to me and great grandmother to my children. I am truley blessed to call them part of my family!!!
I am so thankful to have 2 special men that I can call Dad! Both of them have been a great influence in my life and I treasure them! I love you both and wish you the best Father's Day!!!
AND I can not forget my husband's Dad...Samuel Townsend, he is also a great dad and a wondful man that has also been a great father to Waylon and I and a super great Grandfather to the kids! We love you Papa!! :)

Maternity session with Carey and her family...
This week I had the pleasure of doing a maternity session with Carey, her husband Issac and her daughter Layla. They are expecting another precious little girl this month! I was also blessed to have the great Jennifer Adams come along with me to the session to assist me, thanks so much Jennifer for all your help!!! :) Carey and her family did great in front of the camera and we were able to capture some great photos and memories. Layla is such a sweet little girl with a wonderful personality. She is excited about her new little sister on the way, I am sure you can tell from these photos. :) Issac sure does love his girls and is a great dad and a great sport during the photo shoot. Here are a few of my favorites from the session, ENJOY!

"Victory only comes when you...Get Off The Dock!"... In His Wakes Ministries
On May 1st our kids school had the coolest field trip! This was the third year my children were blessed to be able to attend this super cool event. So what was it you ask??? A water skiing field trip! Now this is not your ordinary field trip...this for sure is one of the perks of attending a Christian School...there is nothing better than having your children partake in a wonderful, fun, wholesome event AND get to learn more about Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the process! Let me tell you more about the AWESOME Ministry program "In His Wakes" and its Founder World Champion Water Skier Kristi Overton Johnson. Kristi has started this wonderful Non- Profit program that helps children overcome any fears they may have about the water, skiing, boats, etc and gets them "Off the Dock" but in a VERY unique way. Kristi and her team travel nationally and internationally encouraging people of all backgrounds to 'get off the dock' and take to the waters of life with passion, purpose, hope, and confidence through their "A Day to Remember" and "On the Shores" Programs. All things are possible through Christ and that is the basis of this great program. Each year the In His Wakes organization sets aside a special day for the kids at our school (Kristi and her Husband have children that also attend our school) and we have the best field trip ever!!! The love and support that this team of volunteers have for ALL children is so uplifting. I know God is so proud!!! The way they use the boat, ski rope and other ski related items to liken them to life and following God is so creative and really sticks in the kids minds. I could just go on and on, but I am sure you get the point, this is a great program and if you EVER have an opportunity to attend one of these events you need too!!! I strongly urge you to visit the "In His Wakes" Website by Clicking Here and read more about Kristi, and her staff that work so hard to spread the word of God and give kids AND adults hope and encouragement that you CAN do it and you ARE of worth!!! If you able, help support this program in anyway you can, we are ALL helping to build up the youth of today and help them to be great adults and it all starts with positive programs just like this one! I was very excited when Kristi allowed me to shoot some photos during the event that not only gave me some shooting experience, but allowed them to have some more fun photos to use to help promote this organization. I was honored to donate my time and talent and the hundreds of photos I took to the "In His Wakes Ministry".
Now on to some photo talk...wow this was quite an experience to shoot this event. I have never done anything like it before. I was up for the challenge, and challenge it was! It was a bright sunny day and full of action. My lighting conditions were constantly changing as I was twisting and turning all different ways in the boat. The sun sure was tricky to work with as this was a all day event but like I said I was up for the challenge..lol...I used my Canon 70-200 f/2.8L IS lens which I dearly love and the IS came in very handy! Now I am sure there are some things I could have done better and you know that is what learning is all about! I am just thankful for the IS in the lens as there is no room for a tripod on a boat so hand held shots are it! Try propping up your camera on the boat...no way....try sitting in a boat that is moving ALL over the place and going over waves and then focusing on the person or tube being pulled behind the boat that also is moving all over the place super fast AND trying to keep the sun in check and water from splashing on the camera and lens...whew..now that is challenging!!! BUT FUN!!! I LOVED IT!!!! For my action shots I used the Tv mode, used a low ISO as it was pretty bright outside and set a fast shutter speed and let the camera select the best f-stop for me. I think it worked out pretty OK, and I am excited for the chance to practice again. I took HUNDREDS of shots that day, but I selected a few to share with you so that you can hopefully get a feel for the event.
Here are a few teasers. For a COMPLETE FULL SLIDE SHOW OF ALL IMAGES of the day CLICK HERE.
If anyone has some great tips for me to try for next time during a event like this, show me some blog love and feel free to comment. :)

Taylor...and photography????
Ok so you have seen we have been to the flower field and got some fun photos...and during our shoot with grama we also met up with a new photographer friend (Brittani) that I met at our Jacksonville, FL. PUG (Pictage User Group) meeting. She brought her family down to also get some fun shots with the flowers. She has such a sweet family and 2 absolutely adorable children!!! During our visit we exchanged cameras and she took a few pics of me with my family and I took some of her and her family. After, we were all just standing around talking when my daughter Taylor asked if she could shoot some photos with my camera...ok...so I was a little scared I have to admit...camera equipment is not cheap these days and I was worried she might not handle the weight very good since I had my Canon 70-200 f/2.8L IS lens attached and that is quite a bit of weight with my 50D with battery grip. Oh and I might add that Taylor is only 10! Thank goodness for neck straps!!! Can I get a AMEN!!!! Sooooo I took the chance (since I was standing right by her) and let her give it a try, I had the camera settings all ready for her and gave her a quick discussion on focusing, yada, yada...and well it started a little something because Brittani's little girl wanted to take pics also!!! It was fun and I was really excited to upload the pics and see what she had shot...and I was pleasantly surprised! Here are some of the photos my 10 year old daughter Taylor took that day...not to bad , well at least I thought so!!! And...as promised I told Taylor I would blog about her pictures...lol....she was excited can you tell???
OH...and take some time to check out my friend Brittani's website and Blog she is a great photographer and very creative! Here site and blog is here: Brittania Garden.
So now on to Taylor's shots! Great job Taylor!!

Grama came for a visit....
I was so excited when my mom surprised me at the last minute with a trip down to visit with us for Mother's Day! There is nothing better than spending Mother's Day with your mom! Since we have lived so far apart for a while now I cannot remember when our last Mother's Day visit was so this was quite a treat. Well with the flowers still blooming at the fabulous field near my home how could we pass up some photos with Grama??? What a great Mother's Day present for me to shoot some fun photos with my kids and my mom, these are photos I will treasure forever....and I am sure my kids will too....My children each have such different personalities, especially my silly son Bo. If you know Bo you would not be surprised to know that it was VERY hard to get a few regular photos of him...he always makes us laugh and nothing embarrasses him!!! So in case you wonder about the silly photo of him and Grama...well that is just Bo!!! :)

Two sisters and flowers...
Yep, I know you might have thought I had forgotten about everyone but not so! Whew life just goes by so fast...just like my girls growing up. This beautiful field near my house a few weeks ago was just blooming away with gorgeous flowers and out of all the MANY years I have lived near this field we have never stopped by for photos. Not this year! We did not let it pass us by, and with that I was able to get some sweet photos of my girls and make some memories in the process. :) Looking at these photos really hits home about how much they have grown and how time sure does fly. Just like the saying to "take time to smell the flowers", "take time to hold them close and tell them you love them, because just as the flowers fizzle away, our children grow up so fast."
Here are a few teasers and make sure to check out some more favorites in the SLIDESHOW HERE!

Weekend at Cedar Key- NE FL Landscape Photographer
My husband Waylon has been working so hard lately. His job has had him working long hours for a couple months now without much of a break. In between two jobs he did have a couple days to try to relax before heading back out and we took off for a few days and headed over to Cedar Key. We have a family vacation home there and just love it. We loaded up the airboat and off we went! I left the computer home but took the camera! Can't leave home without that... :) We had a great time enjoying the beautiful weather and relaxed as a family. Here is a peak with a few of the photos I took while on the boat and the islands. Enjoy!

Are you a Drag Racing Fan? Check out the 2009 NHRA Gator Nationals!
Last weekend was the 2009 NHRA Gator Nationals. We have attended the last several years and just LOVE it! There is noting like feeling the vibrations in your seat and chest as the Top Fuel cars race at 300+ miles an hour in under 4 seconds!!! WOW! The cars are cool for sure and the paint jobs are just as spectacular. There are several divisions of types of cars and even motorcycles (Which I also LOVE to watch)... and how about those girl drivers!! WooHoo -Girl Power!! What a perfect place to try out my new Canon 70-200 f/2.8L IS Lens, (Which I am totally in love with by the way!!!) and got some great shots. I even handed the camera over to my son Bo (who will be 12 next month) and let him shoot some with it too...he is loving photography and I am excited to share it with him. :) He is developing an eye and I see great things happening with him behind the camera! We also enjoyed meeting some of the drivers and winners this weekend and Taylor and Carrie even got to hold the Pro Stock Motorcycle Champion's trophy for a photo! Thanks Hector Arana!!! How about Taylor and Carrie ALSO holding the big $10K check that Mike Castellana won and posing in front of his Pro-Mod Car! Very cool!!! Not only that but meeting Jason Line the Pro Stock winner for autographs and photos too!!! Well if your a Drag Racing fan, you KNOW the "Force Racing Team"! Check the girls out with John and Ashley Force, a father daughter team that ROCKS the Top Fuel Funny Car lineup!! So you can tell we had a very exciting weekend and the drivers were just great and very appreciative of their fans. :) Bo and I took TONS of photos over the weekend so make sure to check out the GALLERY of photos and see if you can find your favorite car and driver and if you have friends that are fans pass along the link they might want to see them too. Even if your not familiar with Drag Racing, go check out the pics, they are still pretty cool to see. :)

Ok...so we do have another family member...
My youngest daughter Carrie has wanted me to introduce our "other" family member to my Blog family for a while now, so as promised...here is "Monkey"...lol...This is Carrie's best little stuffed animal friend. She has had this monkey for YEARS NOW...and you can tell he has weathered many storms and traveled many places..he has even been to Alaska several times...more than some people have!! Monkey goes almost every where with Carrie and has even comforted her in her most need times. He is a special friend to her and well we love him too. Carrie wanted a photo session with monkey...lol...and how could I refuse?...lol... And well now you get to meet him.... :)

A day out on the boat...
Well the kids are finally done with SAT testing this week and had early release today...since they were doing nothing at school today and it was a fun day we headed out on the air boat! Taylor was not with us..she is spending the night at her friends house for her first sleep over. :) We missed her out on the boat, she would have had fun fishing I am sure too! Well it was a breezy day but beautiful, it was nice to relax with the family. Waylon has been working so much lately that he really enjoyed doing something fun! I brought my camera along, never know what you will see... :) Here are some shots from the view from the boat...
